GALACTIC FOUNDATION MINISTRIES
STATEMENT OF FAITH
This Statement of Faith outlines the core theological convictions of Galactic Foundation Ministries and Foundation Community Bible Churches, anchoring our mission in the authority of Scripture and the traditions of the Protestant Reformation.
I. The Word of God (Sola Scriptura)
We believe the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final rule for faith and practice, sufficient for all matters of life and godliness. We believe in the literal-grammatical-historical interpretation of Scripture, seeking to understand the mind of the Spirit.
II. The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are the same in substance, equal in power and glory, and execute distinct but harmonious offices in creation, providence, and redemption. God is sovereign over all things, accomplishing all His holy will.
III. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and personal, visible return in glory. We believe that Jesus is the only Mediator between God and man.
IV. Man and Sin
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, holy and righteous. As a result of Adam’s sin, all humanity is totally depraved, meaning every part of human nature—mind, will, and affections—is corrupted by sin. Consequently, all are born sinners, estranged from God, and unable to save themselves, deserving of eternal judgment.
V. Salvation by Grace Alone (Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus)
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, not earned by human works. It is granted entirely to those whom God has chosen (elect) from eternity past, based on His good pleasure and not on anticipated human merit.
- Regeneration: We believe that the Holy Spirit imparts new life (regenerates) to the sinner, granting the ability to repent and believe.
- Justification: We believe that justification is by faith alone in Christ alone, whereby the righteousness of Christ is imputed to the believer, making them righteous in God’s sight.
- Perseverance: We believe that all who are truly regenerated will persevere in faith to the end and cannot lose their salvation.
VI. The Church and Sacraments
We believe in the one, universal Church, which is the body of Christ. We believe in the local church, characterized by the faithful preaching of the Word, the right administration of the sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), and the exercise of church discipline.
- Baptism: We believe baptism is a sign of the covenant of grace and a seal of ingrafting into Christ.
- The Lord’s Supper: We believe the Lord’s Supper is a spiritual nourishment wherein believers by faith feed upon Christ, receiving spiritual blessing.
VII. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, convicting them of sin, guiding them into truth, and sanctifying them progressively to be more like Christ. We believe in the fruit of the Spirit as evidence of true faith.
VIII. The Final Consummation
We believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment of all people, and the establishment of a new heaven and new earth. Unbelievers will suffer eternal conscious punishment, while the righteous will enjoy everlasting life in the presence of God.
IX. Culture and Life
We believe that all of life is to be lived Coram Deo (in the presence of God), bringing every area of society—family, work, and culture—under the Lordship of Christ. We affirm the biblical definition of marriage as the covenant bond between one man and one woman.
